The Left’s Ever Encroaching Statism

Ah, the Internet Age. A time when if you don’t know something, it only takes a matter of seconds to search and find what you are seeking; quickly making you a genius among swine. The microwave zap of endorphins that runs through your veins as you prove your superiority with secretly newfound knowledge, preferred materials, unbeknownst pseudoscience, and political party propaganda.

It is also a time of unrelenting bias and an era of unstable emotionalism. Logic has been bartered for feelings, reason has been replaced with unsoundness, and benevolence has been traded in for altruism.

The blatant disregard of logic and reason is ever increasing; with vile remarks and personal attacks rather than discussing issues with civility. This is not a single political perspective issue, it is becoming an all-around issue on the total political spectrum.

In a study in psychology at Emory University by Dr. Drew Westen as told in his book, ‘The Political Brain: The Role of Emotion in Deciding the Fate of the Nation,’ fMRI’s were taken of the brains of both Democrats and Republicans. When asked the same questions relating to politics, both groups showed more activity in regions of the brain dedicated to emotion rather than areas of the brain used for reasoning.

What better place to see this instability than in a cyber world where anything goes?

Facebook debates are the norm these days. A page or news source posts a story about a politician or political subject and the crowds go wild. The bantering discord is quickly brought to shrewd remarks, likes determine temporary winners of like-minded individuals, and the subjugation of the defeated is made through displaced humiliation. Never was there mature discussion, agreement to disagree, the thought that both parties could be equally right or wrong, or a general common sense of civility. Respect is gouged out in order to fill the void with interim hormonal rushes.

However, the Left, far more exceedingly, has withered into decay and has cast itself into a trough of putrid denigration of those that oppose the Left’s feelings and beliefs. Tolerance is touted as supreme until one with an opposing view questions and confronts the Left’s position of irrational thinking.

How would one test this?

Go to a political news source’s Facebook page and find an article about a popular a Democrat, Socialist, Democratic Socialist, or Communist candidate or subject. Next, post something contrary to the statements given in support of the modern liberal candidate, official, or left leaning subject. The key here, however, is that you must post something proven with logic and reason, and it must be easily understood by the majority of those that would read your short statement. A standard meme can get the job done quickly. Finally, wait for the personal attacks to start rolling in.

Rather than discussing with a calm rational demeanor, emotions kick in and more commonly these modern liberals will gang up on the person that rejects them. In some instances, not uncommon, one can also see threats against human lives.

An example is the story of “Cecil the Lion” that was, presumably, poached, many liberal commenters on Facebook declared that the hunter, or poacher, should be killed. A fellow human being. His life has also been threatened at his business, by phone, email, on social media, etc… all because he killed a lion.

This small scenario, on a social scale, is a prime example of how Socialism, and related political and philosophical beliefs, can escalate into totalitarian Statism. Socialism has shown throughout its existence that more deaths and government control is necessary for the Elitist society. The State provides to the citizens insufficiently, from which the citizens were aggressively taxed and suppressed by force, and the citizens must fully submit unto the State. Whatever the State declares as true is what the citizens must abide by and believe. Those who refuse will be impoverished, imprisoned, or eliminated.

According to Ayn Rand, in her book ‘Capitalism: The Unknown Deal,’ under the section “’Extremism,’ or the Art of Smearing,” “The goal of the ‘liberals’ — as it emerges from the record of the past decades — was to smuggle this country into welfare statism by means of single, concrete, specific measures, enlarging the power of the government a step at a time, never permitting these steps to be summed up into principles, never permitting their direction to be identified or the basic issue to be named. Thus statism was to come, not by vote or by violence, but by slow rot — by a long process of evasion and epistemological corruption, leading to a fait accompli.”

When their systematic atrocities are pointed out and duly noted, Leftists tend to point to their false sense of historicity and claim their point as factual. These examples include, but are not limited to, a claim of switching parties and ideology, altruism being for the benefit of all mankind over wrongdoing, aggression against individualism, collectivism, justification of political about-facing, and moral superiority.

The Left’s past is only to be judged by their own, they decide when their past suits their case, and when it best benefits their Statist objectives. Their whole idea is for people to get in line, follow, and not think for one’s self. Everyone is in it together; keep mum, or those that oppose shall be stifled.

As foretold by George Orwell in his book, ‘1984,’ “And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed — if all records told the same tale — then the lie passed into history and became truth. ‘Who controls the past,’ ran the Party slogan, ‘controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.’ And yet the past, though of its nature alterable, never had been altered. Whatever was true now was true from everlasting to everlasting. It was quite simple. All that was needed was an unending series of victories over your own memory. ‘Reality control,’ they called it: in Newspeak, ‘doublethink.’”

Further evidence is the Left’s constant attack on the Constitution. Their principles surround the idea of an overwhelming federal government being the “savior” of society. They stipulate that language, morality, religion, movement, trade, education, et cetera, be policed by said government. These are the very things the world has been warned about; and if not stopped soon, the United States of America could become a total Statist nation with no escape.

When this is told to a Leftist, their response is that the statements are fear mongering rather than logical and evidence based. Proverbially proving that people can walk blindly off of a cliff to their own demise and self-destruction, as long as everyone else is doing it.

Equally, there is Statism alive and well on the right (that is for another article); however, by and large, the vast majority of Lefists condone the growing Statism they provide through altruism and Socialism, and everything with that, without remorse. A growing issue, with a large population, that has no immediate solution, indeed. It is also conspicuous that society is swiftly moving down that road of destruction.
